    John Heredia
John has been an artist at heart since a very young age by demonstrating an ability to render and draw creatively. At around 11 years of age he received his first drum set. While working towards his Bachelor's of Fine Art specializing in painting at Auburn University, he took photography as an elective three times as at the time there was no photography major.

After receiving his BFA he moved to Atlanta starting to assist commercial photographers, shooting models, and playing in an original indie-rock band. After relocating to Florida, weddings would become his main focus for photography. Music has also been remained a big part of his life as he still continues to play in several bands and has taught drums lessons as well.

The photo captured a pied kingfisher flying above the lake and hovering, looking for fish below. I was taking photographs of many types of birds flying around the lake. I converted the photo to B&W and decreased the contrast to bring out details of the bird. It was taken at 3 pm 2/1/24. Camera was a Nikon D500, DX, 70-300 zoom lens, effective focal length of 277 mm. As a deep space photographer, I like to take photos of outer space targets that our eyes cannot see. These photos require a lot of patience and a lot of clear nights reason why my telescopes are working almost every night when it isn't cloudy. Astrophotography is very different from all the other types of photography, a single photo sometimes requires tens of hours under the clear night sky but the result is very satisfying. In this photo, I would like to present to you the California Nebula
